利莫瑞克大学是爱尔兰七所国立大学之一，隶属于爱尔兰常青藤盟校之称的“爱尔兰国立大学联盟”。它是爱尔兰独立后第一所由政府资助而建的综合型独立大学，西欧最美丽的大学之一也是西欧名校。利莫瑞克大学被QS全球大学排行榜评为五星级大学。利莫瑞克大学同时拥有美国商学院协会（AACSB国际）、欧洲质量改善系统（EQUIS）和英国工商管理硕士协会（AMBA）认证的商学院，被誉为商科三皇冠认证。
