法语布鲁塞尔自由大学（简称ULB），建校于1834年，位于比利时首都布鲁塞尔城市，是以法语和英语教学为主的综合性大学。它有21000名学生，其中29%來自国外，教职员也是来自世界各地。ULB 是一研究性大学，几乎涵盖所有的人文和自然科学，拥有一流的研究水平，曾获得过4次诺贝尔奖和其他若干著名科学奖项。布鲁塞尔自由大学也是一所非常重视博士生培养的高校。学校有1800名博士生，其中43%的博士生来自国外。学校为每一位博士生提供能够满足其研究要求的培训。这一培训既为博士生提供科学思维训练，又锻炼其整体竞争能力。2015年6月29日，在中国国务院总理李克强和比利时首相米歇尔的共同见证下，孔子学院总部与法语布鲁塞尔自由大学签署了合作设立孔子学院的协议，该孔子学院的中方合作院校为华东师范大学。
法语布鲁塞尔自由大学在最新的上海交通大学世界大学学术排行榜上，排名位于101-200位之间；在2020USNEWS世界大学排行榜上位居第190名。
