海德堡大学，建立于1386年，位于巴登-符腾堡州，是德国最古老的大学，也是神圣罗马帝国继查理大学（1348）和维也纳大学（1365）之后开设的第三所大学。目前海德堡大学有12个学院，超过100个学门，分为大学部、研究所与博士后研究所。

海德堡大学是德国精英大学TU9成员之一，是欧洲研究型大学联盟、科英布拉集团、U15大学联盟及欧洲大学协会创始会员。目前共有56位诺贝尔奖得主（德国第一），19位莱布尼兹奖得主曾于该校求学、任教或研究。排行榜上，海德堡大学位居2020QS世界大学排名第66位，2020泰晤士高等教育世界大学排名第44位，2020USNews世界大学排名第56位。
